Facing the Future

Every stage of every age
We look ahead to find our way,
To seek our goals, gently gauge,
life’s twists and turns, afraid to stray.

A baby sucks, and sleeps to grow
A toddler wants to walk, talk, know.

The child plays, attends school to learn.
The youth will shock, strut, seek to earn.

An adult needs to work, date, mate.
Responsibly insures against fate.

The old, retired when blessed with health,
Find each new day a source of wealth.
